Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of construction projects to verify compliance with approved plans and specifications
- Investigate citizen complaints regarding code violations and public safety issues
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate documentation
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and city departments to resolve compliance issues
- Issue permits, notices of violation, and stop-work orders as necessary
- Participate in plan reviews and provide technical guidance to stakeholders
- Testify in administrative hearings and legal proceedings when required
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of construction inspection or related field experience
- Valid California Class C Driver's License
- ICBO Certification (or equivalent) preferred
- Strong knowledge of building codes and construction methods
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interpret technical blueprints and specifications
- Proficiency with inspection software and GIS systems
- Ability to work in outdoor environments with varying weather conditions
