Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery including excavators, backhoes, and graders for construction projects
- Perform manual labor including excavation, concrete pouring, and asphalt paving
- Conduct routine maintenance on public roads, drainage systems, and parks
- Adhere to OSHA and CAL/OSHA safety protocols at all job sites
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications
- Assist in emergency response during natural disasters and public emergencies
- Maintain accurate work logs and equipment maintenance records
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of public works or heavy construction experience
- Valid California Class C Driver's License with clean driving record
- OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Proficiency with hand/power tools and basic surveying equipment
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training a plus
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Experience with underground utility installation a significant advantage
