Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks including excavation, grading, and paving operations
- Operate heavy machinery (e.g., dump trucks, backhoes) safely and efficiently
- Maintain roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems throughout the city
- Assist in stormwater management and erosion control projects
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and maintain clean work sites
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Virginia driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment operation
- Must pass pre-employment physical and background check
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Experience with municipal public works projects a plus
