Responsibilities
- Perform heavy manual labor including excavation, grading, and material handling
- Operate heavy machinery (backhoes, loaders, dump trucks) with proper certification
- Install and maintain public utilities (water lines, drainage systems)
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and NYC Department of Construction safety protocols
- Assist in emergency response during natural disasters or infrastructure failures
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on city assets
Qualifications
- Valid New York State Driver's License with clean record
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction certification required
- Minimum 2 years heavy machinery operation experience
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in all weather conditions
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CDL Class B license preferred
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
