Responsibilities
- Perform heavy manual labor including excavation, grading, and concrete work for public infrastructure projects
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery (backhoes, loaders, dump trucks) with proper safety protocols
- Install and repair public utilities including water mains, storm drains, and traffic signals
- Conduct routine maintenance on city roads, sidewalks, and public facilities
- Adhere to OSHA safety standards and participate in ongoing safety training
- Collaborate with engineering teams to execute project specifications accurately
- Document work progress and maintain equipment maintenance logs
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of construction/public works labor experience or equivalent trade apprenticeship
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake endorsement
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety certification required
- Ability to lift 75+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of blueprints, construction plans, and survey markers
- Strong mechanical aptitude for equipment troubleshooting and minor repairs
- Pre-employment drug screening and background check required
