Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor for public infrastructure projects including road maintenance, drainage systems, and park facilities
- Operate light machinery and hand tools safely and efficiently
- Assist in construction, repair, and upkeep of city sidewalks, curbs, and storm drains
- Participate in emergency response for weather-related public works emergencies
- Follow all OSHA safety protocols and maintain clean job sites
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project deadlines
- Complete daily equipment inspections and maintenance logs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Virginia driver's license with clean driving record
- Minimum 1 year of experience in construction, landscaping, or related field
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- OSHA 10-hour certification preferred (training provided if needed)
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and flexible schedule including weekends
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and light machinery operation
- Must pass pre-employment background check and physical examination
