Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor for infrastructure maintenance including road repairs, sewer inspections, and park upkeep
- Operate heavy machinery safely including jackhammers, asphalt cutters, and compaction equipment
- Execute excavation and backfilling operations for utility projects under supervisor guidance
- Conduct routine inspections of public works assets and report maintenance needs
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and maintain clean, organized job sites
- Assist in emergency response during severe weather events or infrastructure failures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers and contractors
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid New York State Driver's License
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly and perform physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions
- Experience with hand/power tools and basic construction methods
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to follow verbal/written instructions
- Pass pre-employment physical and background check
- Basic math skills for material measurement and inventory control
