Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, and dump trucks
- Perform manual labor tasks such as excavation, grading, and asphalt patching
- Install and repair public infrastructure including sidewalks, drainage systems, and traffic signs
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and maintain clean job sites
- Assist in emergency response during severe weather events
- Complete preventative maintenance on city vehicles and machinery
- Document daily work activities and submit progress reports
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Texas Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in construction or public works
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly and work in outdoor conditions
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety certification preferred
- Basic knowledge of blueprint reading and survey equipment
- Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Clean driving record and background check required
