As a Public Works Laborer, you'll be at the forefront of maintaining and improving Scottsdale's streets, parks, and public facilities. No two days are the same – from roadway repairs to park beautification projects, you'll gain hands-on experience with heavy equipment and construction techniques while making a tangible impact on residents' daily lives.
Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor including digging, lifting, and transporting materials using proper safety techniques
- Operate light equipment such as jackhammers, saws, and compactors under supervision
- Assist in roadway maintenance, drainage system repairs, and park infrastructure projects
- Participate in emergency response efforts during severe weather events
- Maintain clean and organized job sites following OSHA standards
- Complete daily equipment inspections and preventative maintenance tasks
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project timelines are met
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Arizona Driver's License with clean driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and safety protocols
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions precisely
- Experience with hand/power tools preferred but not required
- Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
