Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor for public works projects including road maintenance, park upkeep, and facility repairs
- Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently under supervision (e.g., jackhammers, power saws, graders)
- Assist in storm drain cleaning, vegetation removal, and erosion control activities
- Support traffic control operations during construction zones and emergency response
- Maintain accurate records of materials, equipment usage, and project progress
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and OSHA compliance standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering and sanitation departments
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in construction or maintenance preferred
- Minimum 1 year experience in construction, landscaping, or public works environment
- Valid California Class C Driver's License with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of hand/power tools and construction materials
- OSHA 10-hour certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
- Pass pre-employment physical and background check
- Strong teamwork skills with ability to follow verbal/written instructions
