Responsibilities
- Perform heavy manual labor including excavation, grading, and material handling for road and sidewalk repairs
- Operate light machinery (e.g., jackhammers, pavement saws) under supervision
- Assist in storm drain maintenance and flood control infrastructure projects
- Support waste management operations including debris cleanup and recycling initiatives
- Conduct routine inspections of public works sites and report safety hazards
- Maintain accurate project documentation and inventory of equipment/supplies
- Adhere to OSHA safety standards and city environmental protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 1+ years construction/maintenance experience
- Valid Hawaii Driver's License with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in tropical climate
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and safety procedures
- Pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends during emergencies
- Preference for candidates with CPR/First Aid certification
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
