Responsibilities
- Perform heavy manual labor including excavation, grading, and material handling for municipal infrastructure projects
- Operate light machinery (backhoes, dump trucks, sweepers) under supervision
- Assist in road maintenance, sidewalk repairs, and park facility upkeep
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety protocols and environmental regulations
- Document daily work activities and material usage in digital reporting systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on stormwater management and erosion control projects
- Participate in emergency response for weather-related public works emergencies
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Wisconsin driver's license with clean driving record
- Minimum 1 year construction/public works experience preferred
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of construction materials and equipment operation
- Pass pre-employment physical and background check
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
