Responsibilities
- Perform daily maintenance and repairs on city roads, sidewalks, and public facilities
- Operate heavy machinery including excavators, forklifts, and street sweepers under certified supervision
- Assist in construction projects including bridge repairs, park installations, and drainage system upgrades
- Conduct routine inspections of public infrastructure and report safety hazards
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement infrastructure improvement plans
- Maintain accurate work logs and project documentation
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and environmental regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid New York State driver's license with clean record
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, and basic machinery operation
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to work in all weather conditions
- Basic computer literacy for reporting and documentation
- Pass pre-employment background check and physical examination
