Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor including excavation, grading, and paving operations
- Operate light machinery (e.g., jackhammers, saws, compactors) with proper certification
- Maintain public spaces including parks, streets, and drainage systems
- Assist in emergency response during natural disasters or infrastructure failures
- Adhere strictly to OSHA safety protocols and environmental regulations
- Collaborate with skilled trades on complex infrastructure projects
- Complete accurate daily work logs and maintenance reports
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid California Class C driver's license
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and materials
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- 1+ years of public works or construction experience preferred
- Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends and emergencies
