Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery including graders, excavators, and asphalt rollers for infrastructure projects
- Perform manual labor including excavation, grading, and material handling with OSHA-compliant safety protocols
- Maintain public spaces including park grounds, drainage systems, and street signage
- Assist in emergency response for weather-related events and public infrastructure failures
- Conduct routine inspections of public works assets and document maintenance activities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to project timelines and resource allocation
- Adhere to sustainable practices in all operations including waste reduction and water conservation
Qualifications
- Valid California Class C Driver's License with clean driving record
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience in municipal construction or similar field
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in varying weather conditions
- Knowledge of CA DOT specifications and public works regulations
- Basic equipment operation skills (backhoe, dump truck, jackhammer)
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- High school diploma or equivalent required
