Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor including excavation, grading, and concrete work for infrastructure projects
- Operate heavy machinery (e.g., jackhammers, asphalt cutters, dump trucks) with proper safety protocols
- Install and maintain traffic control systems, signs, and signals
- Assist in storm drain cleaning, street sweeping, and debris removal operations
- Participate in emergency response for weather-related incidents and public safety hazards
- Conduct routine inspections of public works facilities and report maintenance needs
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid California Class C Driver's License with clean driving record
- Minimum 1 year construction/public works labor experience preferred
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in varying weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of hand/power tools and equipment operation
- Successful completion of pre-employment physical and background check
