Responsibilities
- Perform daily street maintenance including pothole repairs, sidewalk replacements, and drainage clearing
- Operate heavy machinery (bobcats, dump trucks, graders) for infrastructure projects
- Assist in hurricane recovery efforts and flood mitigation initiatives
- Conduct regular inspections of public facilities and report maintenance needs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on city-wide beautification programs
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety protocols and municipal regulations
- Maintain accurate work logs and equipment maintenance records
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Louisiana Commercial Driver's License (Class B) with airbrake endorsement
- Minimum 2 years experience in construction/public works or heavy equipment operation
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions
- Certification in OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and basic equipment troubleshooting skills
- Must pass pre-employment physical and background check
- Residency in Orleans Parish preferred
