Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of public infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, and drainage systems
- Review construction plans and specifications for compliance with city codes and federal regulations
- Document inspection findings and prepare detailed technical reports
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and city staff to resolve construction issues
- Enforce safety protocols and environmental standards on job sites
- Manage project documentation and maintain accurate inspection records
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in construction inspection or public works
- Valid Virginia Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety certification required
- Strong knowledge of Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code (USBC)
- Experience with construction testing equipment and surveying instruments
- Ability to interpret technical blueprints and engineering specifications
