Our department manages over 500 miles of roads, 300 parks, and critical water management systems. As a Laborer, you'll be hands-on in preserving Miami's vibrant neighborhoods while gaining valuable experience in municipal operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks including excavation, paving, and drainage system maintenance
- Operate heavy machinery (backhoes, dump trucks) and hand tools safely and efficiently
- Install/repair public infrastructure like sidewalks, traffic signals, and street signs
- Assist in emergency response during hurricanes and other weather events
- Maintain cleanliness of public spaces and work areas following OSHA standards
- Document daily activities and material usage in digital reporting systems
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Florida Class E driver's license with clean record
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of construction materials and safety protocols
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Experience with water management systems highly valued
