Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery including excavators, backhoes, and asphalt compactors with precision and safety
- Perform infrastructure maintenance including road repairs, drainage systems, and sidewalk installations
- Execute traffic control protocols to ensure public safety during construction zones
- Conduct site inspections and document project progress with digital reporting tools
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement sustainable infrastructure solutions
- Adhere to OSHA standards and environmental compliance regulations
- Assist in emergency response for public works disasters
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of public works or construction experience
- Valid California Class C Driver's License with clean record
- OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety certification required
- Ability to lift 75 pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Proficiency in operating heavy machinery (excavator/backhoe certification preferred)
- Basic knowledge of blueprint reading and construction materials
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Pass background check and pre-employment physical
