As a Public Works Laborer, you'll play a vital role in maintaining El Paso's roads, drainage systems, and public facilities while supporting our community's long-term development. We provide comprehensive training and safety equipment to ensure your success.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery and construction equipment under certified supervision
- Perform manual labor including excavation, grading, and material handling
- Conduct routine maintenance on public infrastructure (roads, sidewalks, drainage)
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and maintain clean job sites
- Assist in emergency response for weather-related public works issues
- Complete daily equipment inspections and maintenance reports
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for project efficiency
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid Texas Driver's License with clean record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly and work in extreme weather
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and safety practices
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- 1+ years of construction or public works experience preferred
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) communication skills a plus
