Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment (backhoes, dump trucks, graders) safely and efficiently
- Perform manual labor including digging, lifting, and carrying materials
- Maintain roads, sidewalks, and public facilities
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and city maintenance standards
- Assist in emergency response during natural disasters
- Complete daily work logs and equipment inspection reports
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure projects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid California Class C driver's license
- Minimum 1 year construction/public works experience preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification (or obtain within 30 days)
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Basic knowledge of hand/power tools
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
