Responsibilities
- Maintenance Operations: Perform general labor tasks including cleaning streets, maintaining right-of-way areas, and removing debris.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate light to medium-duty equipment such as dump trucks, sweepers, and jackhammers under supervision.
- Snow & Ice Control: Assist in snow removal operations and ice control during inclement weather to ensure safe roadways.
- Construction Support: Assist skilled tradespeople with various infrastructure projects including paving, patching, and utility work.
- Sanitation: Support sanitation efforts, including trash collection and recycling program assistance when needed.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA safety regulations and city safety protocols while performing duties.
- Communication: Report hazards, maintenance needs, and road conditions to supervisors accurately.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in general labor, construction, landscaping, or public works is a plus but not always required.
- Physical Demands: Ability to perform heavy physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Driver's License: Valid Class C Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Tools: Basic knowledge of hand and power tools is an advantage.
- Availability: Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed for city operations.
