Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain city-provided heavy equipment (bulldozers, excavators, graders)
- Perform manual labor tasks including digging, paving, and landscaping
- Conduct routine inspections of public infrastructure (roads, drainage systems)
- Follow strict safety protocols and OSHA guidelines
- Assist in emergency response during weather-related incidents
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on large-scale projects
- Maintain accurate work logs and project documentation
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid New Mexico Driver's License (Class B preferred)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic mechanical aptitude and equipment maintenance knowledge
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Strong commitment to public service and community safety
- Ability to obtain CDL within 6 months of hire
