Responsibilities
- Operate city-provided equipment (backhoes, dump trucks, sweepers) for infrastructure projects
- Perform manual labor including excavation, landscaping, and road maintenance
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols while working with heavy machinery
- Assist in snow removal and emergency storm response operations
- Maintain public spaces including parks, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance checks
- Collaborate with crews to complete daily project assignments efficiently
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Nebraska driver's license with clean record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment operation
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Must be available for overtime and emergency call-outs
- Previous construction or public works experience preferred
