As a Public Works Laborer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the infrastructure and cleanliness of our community. This is a hands-on position requiring physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Operate Heavy Equipment: Safely operate and maintain a variety of public works equipment, including backhoes, rollers, dump trucks, and excavators.
- Maintenance & Repair: Perform routine maintenance on public infrastructure, including pothole repair, pavement patching, and sidewalk maintenance.
- Site Preparation: Assist in site preparation for construction projects, including clearing debris, grading, and soil compaction.
- Equipment Management: Inspect, clean, and store equipment and tools provided by the company in accordance with safety regulations.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA safety standards and wear provided personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Trash & Recycling: Assist with collection and disposal of refuse, recycling, and bulk items in designated areas.
Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or public works is preferred but not required (training provided).
- License: Valid New Jersey Driver's License is required.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Communication: Ability to follow verbal and written instructions from supervisors.
- Equipment Knowledge: Basic understanding of machinery and tools is a plus.
