Responsibilities
- Operate light/heavy equipment (dump trucks, loaders, street sweepers)
- Perform maintenance on roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Assist in stormwater management and erosion control projects
- Conduct daily site inspections and safety compliance checks
- Participate in emergency response during severe weather events
- Maintain accurate work logs and equipment maintenance records
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on city-wide initiatives
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED accepted)
- Valid Virginia driver's license (Class B preferred)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly throughout shift
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Basic knowledge of construction safety protocols (OSHA 10 certification a plus)
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions
- Willingness to obtain required certifications within 90 days
- Reliable transportation to various work sites across the city
