Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain light and heavy-duty vehicles, including street sweepers, dump trucks, and sanitation trucks.
- Perform routine cleaning of streets, sidewalks, alleys, and public rights-of-way to ensure city cleanliness.
- Assist in the collection, sorting, and disposal of refuse, garbage, and recycling materials.
- Participate in snow and ice removal operations during inclement weather to ensure public safety.
- Conduct general maintenance on public property and equipment, including basic repairs and inspections.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, traffic regulations, and departmental policies while on duty.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding daily tasks and operational needs.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid Class C Maryland Driver's License is required.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions (heat, rain, cold).
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Basic knowledge of construction or landscaping equipment is a plus but not required.
- Strong commitment to public service, safety, and teamwork.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.
