Responsibilities
- Perform heavy manual labor including excavation, grading, and paving operations
- Operate machinery: loaders, dump trucks, street sweepers, and hand tools
- Maintain public infrastructure: roads, sidewalks, drainage systems, and parks
- Assist in emergency storm response and snow removal operations
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of city facilities
- Adhere to strict OSHA safety protocols and environmental standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure projects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid Virginia driver's license with clean record
- Minimum 1 year construction/labor experience preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification (or obtain within 30 days)
- Basic equipment operation skills or willingness to train
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
