Responsibilities
- Perform general manual labor, including digging, loading, and hauling materials for various construction and maintenance projects.
- Operate and maintain light to heavy construction equipment, including jackhammers, rollers, and dump trucks, following all operational manuals.
- Assist in street maintenance tasks, such as pothole repair, line striping, and sweeping to ensure safe and smooth roadways.
- Clear debris, snow, and waste from public rights-of-way during storms and emergencies to maintain city accessibility.
- Follow strict OSHA safety guidelines and company protocols to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and your team.
- Interact with the public and other City department staff in a professional and courteous manner.
- Perform basic inventory checks and report equipment or material needs to supervisors.
Qualifications
- Valid Class C California Driver’s License is required; a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a plus.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50+ lbs) repeatedly throughout the shift and perform physical labor for extended periods.
- Basic math skills for measuring, mixing materials, and recording data accurately.
- Physical stamina to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat and rain.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and be on-call for emergency response situations.
