Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor including excavation, paving, and utility installation
- Operate light machinery (e.g., jackhammers, asphalt cutters) safely
- Maintain construction sites by clearing debris and setting up safety barriers
- Assist skilled tradespeople with material handling and equipment setup
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and city maintenance standards
- Complete daily equipment inspections and maintenance logs
- Participate in emergency response operations during severe weather events
Qualifications
- Valid Ohio driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Basic math skills for material measurements and inventory
- Reliable transportation to various work sites within Franklin County
- Pass pre-employment physical and background check
- 1+ years of construction/maintenance experience preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends during emergencies
