Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair city infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy machinery (backhoes, graders) and specialized equipment safely
- Respond to emergency service calls during weather events and public safety incidents
- Perform preventative maintenance on public facilities and green spaces
- Document work orders and maintain equipment maintenance logs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on capital improvement projects
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and environmental regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- 3+ years experience in public works, construction, or facility maintenance
- Certification in heavy equipment operation preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Pass background check and pre-employment physical
- Basic knowledge of GIS mapping systems a plus
