Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery including graders, excavators, and street sweepers for infrastructure maintenance
- Perform preventative maintenance on traffic signals, streetlights, and drainage systems
- Respond to emergency storm damage and utility outage situations
- Maintain accurate records of work orders, materials usage, and safety compliance
- Collaborate with engineering teams on public improvement projects
- Train junior staff on equipment operation and OSHA safety protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 3+ years in municipal/public works maintenance
- Valid North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days
- Experience with GIS mapping and asset management systems
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in extreme weather conditions
- Pass pre-employment physical and background check
