Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on municipal buildings, parks, and transportation infrastructure
- Operate heavy machinery including street sweepers, asphalt patchers, and trenchers
- Respond to emergency repairs during storms or public safety incidents
- Conduct regular inspections of city assets and document maintenance activities
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and municipal safety regulations
- Train junior staff on proper equipment operation and safety protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience in public works or infrastructure maintenance
- Valid California Class C driver's license with clean record
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification required
- Ability to operate heavy machinery (CPR certification a plus)
- Strong knowledge of municipal infrastructure systems
- Physical ability to perform strenuous outdoor work in varied weather
- Experience with preventive maintenance scheduling systems
