Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Maintenance: Perform routine inspection, repair, and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, curbs, and drainage systems to ensure compliance with city codes and public safety standards.
- Heavy Equipment Operation: Safely operate heavy machinery, including backhoes, dump trucks, pavement breakers, and jackhammers, adhering to all operational and safety protocols.
- Traffic Control: Set up and monitor traffic control devices, including cones, signs, and flagging operations, to ensure the safety of workers and the traveling public.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests, such as potholes and flooding, to minimize service disruption and community impact.
- Inventory Management: Assist in the inventory control, maintenance, and calibration of tools, equipment, and materials used in daily operations.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in public works, construction, or general maintenance is strongly preferred.
- Licensing: Valid Texas Class C Driver's License is required; possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is a significant plus.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, work in various weather conditions (heat, rain, etc.), and stand for extended periods.
- Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of construction techniques and safety standards; proficiency in using hand and power tools.
