Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of county roads, alleys, and drainage infrastructure.
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery, including asphalt patchers, rollers, and loaders.
- Install, repair, and maintain traffic signs, guardrails, and pavement markings.
- Inspect work sites to ensure strict compliance with OSHA safety regulations and environmental standards.
- Respond to emergency calls regarding public infrastructure damage or hazardous conditions.
- Collaborate with engineers and other county departments on large-scale construction projects.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid California Class C Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), operate heavy equipment, and work in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of construction and maintenance equipment operations is highly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, maps, and safety plans.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screen.
