Responsibilities
- Perform heavy manual labor including digging, lifting, and moving heavy materials in various weather conditions.
- Operate and maintain heavy construction and maintenance equipment such as dump trucks, backhoes, and asphalt rollers.
- Inspect, repair, and maintain public infrastructure including streets, sidewalks, storm drains, and curbs.
- Respond to emergency service requests and public complaints regarding infrastructure and sanitation issues.
- Ensure strict adherence to all city safety regulations, OSHA standards, and Department of Public Works protocols.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and on schedule.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid Michigan Driver’s License with a clean driving record is mandatory.
- Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform strenuous labor for extended periods.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge of construction or maintenance tools.
- Strong commitment to public service and community safety.
