Responsibilities
- Supervise daily operations of public works crews and infrastructure maintenance projects
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal regulations
- Coordinate emergency response during severe weather events
- Manage departmental budget allocations and resource allocation
- Conduct performance evaluations and implement staff training programs
- Oversee infrastructure rehabilitation projects including roads, drainage systems, and public facilities
- Prepare detailed progress reports for city council and stakeholders
- Collaborate with engineering and environmental departments on sustainable initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Public Administration, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in municipal public works or infrastructure management
- Valid Kansas Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety certification required
- Proven leadership experience with union and non-union staff
- Strong knowledge of ADA compliance and infrastructure accessibility standards
- Experience with GIS mapping and infrastructure management software
- Ability to obtain Kansas Water Operator certification within 12 months
