Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance of city roads, bridges, and stormwater systems
- Operate heavy machinery including asphalt pavers, graders, and trenchers
- Coordinate emergency response during weather-related infrastructure events
- Document field activities using digital reporting systems and GIS mapping tools
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety protocols and environmental regulations
- Train junior staff on equipment operation and safety procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with 3+ years infrastructure maintenance experience
- Valid Indiana Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or ability to obtain within 90 days
- Proficiency with heavy equipment operation (backhoes, excavators, dump trucks)
- Basic knowledge of civil engineering principles and construction materials
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Indiana residency required within 6 months of hire
- Pass federal background check and drug screening
