Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment (excavators, graders, dump trucks) for municipal projects
- Perform preventative maintenance on city infrastructure including roads, drainage systems, and parks
- Respond to emergency public works incidents (e.g., flooding, utility breaks) within specified timeframes
- Document project progress, equipment usage, and safety compliance using digital systems
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement infrastructure improvement plans
- Ensure adherence to OSHA standards and city safety protocols at all times
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 2+ years of public works/construction experience
- Valid Texas Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with clean driving record
- OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
- Proficiency in operating heavy machinery and standard hand/power tools
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and emergency call-outs
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD or GIS mapping systems preferred
- Strong problem-solving skills with ability to work independently in field conditions
