Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on public infrastructure, including streets, sidewalks, and traffic control devices.
- Operate heavy equipment such as dump trucks, backhoes, and loaders safely and efficiently.
- Inspect and maintain storm drains, culverts, and drainage systems to prevent flooding.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests and public works complaints in a timely manner.
- Ensure all work areas are clean, organized, and compliant with OSHA safety standards.
- Assist in the installation and repair of traffic signs, signals, and pavement markings.
- Collaborate with engineers and other city departments on project planning and execution.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent; technical trade school certification is a plus.
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in public works, construction, or heavy equipment operation preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Must pass a post-offer physical examination and drug screening.
