Responsibilities
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance on streets, sidewalks, and drainage systems to ensure public safety.
- Operate heavy machinery, including backhoes, dump trucks, and loaders, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Inspect public infrastructure for compliance with city codes and identify areas requiring repair or upgrade.
- Respond to citizen service requests and inquiries regarding public works issues promptly and professionally.
- Assist in snow removal, traffic control, and flood control operations during adverse weather conditions.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and equipment maintenance logs.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid New Mexico Class B Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Physical ability to perform heavy labor in various weather conditions, including standing, walking, and lifting.
- Basic knowledge of construction equipment and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Completion of a city-approved apprenticeship or equivalent field experience is preferred.
