Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain municipal vehicles and specialized equipment (e.g., snow plows, street sweepers, utility trucks)
- Perform routine inspections and repairs of public infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Respond to emergency service calls during inclement weather or public safety incidents
- Document work activities using digital reporting systems and maintain accurate service records
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Ensure strict adherence to OSHA safety protocols and municipal regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; technical certification preferred
- Valid Indiana Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with airbrake endorsement
- Minimum 2 years experience in public works, construction, or equipment operation
- Proficiency with basic hand/power tools and diagnostic equipment
- Ability to work variable shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities
- Pass pre-employment background check and physical examination
