Responsibilities
- Perform daily maintenance and repairs on city streets, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy machinery including graders, excavators, and asphalt pavers
- Inspect public infrastructure for safety hazards and compliance issues
- Coordinate emergency response during severe weather events
- Document work activities using digital reporting systems
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Train junior staff on equipment operation and safety protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree in civil engineering preferred
- Valid North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License
- 3+ years experience in public works or construction maintenance
- OSHA 30-hour construction certification
- Proficiency in GIS mapping and digital work order systems
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
