Responsibilities
- Perform skilled maintenance and repair work on public buildings, facilities, and infrastructure, including streets and storm drains.
- Operate and maintain a variety of heavy equipment, tools, and vehicles in accordance with safety regulations.
- Inspect municipal assets to identify potential issues and perform preventive maintenance.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and other public works divisions to execute infrastructure projects.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with local, state, and federal safety codes and standards.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and public inquiries regarding city services.
- Prepare accurate reports and maintain detailed records of work performed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Vocational training or Associate’s degree in a related field (Construction, Engineering, or Trades) is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in general maintenance, construction, or a related trade.
- Valid California Class C Driver’s License with a good driving record.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions and potentially lift heavy objects.
