Responsibilities
- Design and implement quantum algorithms for practical commercial applications
- Lead a cross-functional team of 8-10 quantum physicists and software engineers
- Develop error-correction protocols for fault-tolerant quantum systems
- Establish partnerships with quantum hardware manufacturers (IBM, Rigetti, IonQ)
- Publish research in Nature/Science journals and present at IEEE Quantum Week
- Secure $5M+ in federal grants for quantum research initiatives
- Create roadmap for quantum advantage implementation in 2026
Qualifications
- PhD in Quantum Physics, Computer Science, or related field
- 5+ years experience with quantum programming languages (Qiskit, Cirq, Q#)
- Proven track record of publishing in top-tier quantum research journals
- Expertise in quantum error correction and decoherence mitigation
- Strong background in superconducting qubit architectures
- Experience managing R&D teams with $1M+ budgets
- Deep understanding of NISQ-era limitations and fault-tolerant roadmaps
- Clearance for DOE/NIST quantum security collaborations preferred
