Responsibilities
- Design and implement novel quantum algorithms for practical applications in optimization, cryptography, and machine learning
- Lead experimental quantum computing projects using superconducting qubits and photonic systems
- Develop error mitigation strategies to overcome current quantum hardware limitations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate quantum solutions into classical computing frameworks
- Publish breakthrough research in top-tier journals and present at international quantum conferences
- Mentor junior researchers and drive quantum literacy across the organization
- Secure external funding through NSF and DARPA grants for quantum innovation initiatives
Qualifications
- PhD in Quantum Computing, Physics, Computer Science, or related field (required)
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with quantum hardware (superconducting/ion trap/qubit systems)
- Proven track record of publishing high-impact quantum computing research
- Expertise in quantum algorithm development and complexity theory
- Proficiency in quantum programming languages (Qiskit, Cirq, Q#) and simulation frameworks
- Strong background in linear algebra, statistical mechanics, and information theory
- Experience securing federal research grants and managing R&D budgets
