Responsibilities
- Oversee all city recordkeeping including council minutes, ordinances, and public documents with meticulous accuracy
- Manage municipal elections, voter registration, and campaign finance compliance
- Provide expert administrative support to Seattle City Council meetings and public hearings
- Develop and implement records retention policies compliant with Washington State RCW
- Serve as primary public records officer responding to complex information requests
- Coordinate with legal department on legislative drafting and codification
- Lead digital transformation of municipal records management systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field
- 5+ years municipal government experience with records management focus
- Washington State Municipal Clerk certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
- Expertise in RCW chapters 42.56 (Public Records) and 29A (Elections)
- Advanced proficiency in records management software (e.g., Laserfiche, DocuWare)
- Exceptional written communication skills for drafting official documents
- Experience managing public records requests and FOIA compliance
- Proven ability to coordinate high-stakes municipal elections
