Responsibilities
- Oversee all official city records, ordinances, resolutions, and meeting minutes with meticulous accuracy and legal compliance
- Manage City Council agendas, public hearings, and election processes while ensuring transparency and public access
- Supervise records management system implementation and maintain digital archives for 100+ years of historical documents
- Administer oaths, notarizations, and public records requests while maintaining strict confidentiality protocols
- Lead interdepartmental coordination for municipal elections, redistricting, and charter amendments
- Develop and implement records retention policies compliant with state and federal regulations
- Serve as primary liaison between citizens and local government through public inquiry management
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business, or related field; Master's preferred
- 5+ years municipal government experience with 2+ in supervisory roles
- NC Municipal Clerk credential or ability to obtain within 12 months
- Expertise in Robert's Rules of Order and NC Open Meetings Law
- Advanced proficiency in records management software (e.g., Laserfiche, DocuWare)
- Proven crisis management experience during elections or public records disputes
- Exceptional written communication skills for drafting ordinances and public notices
- Valid NC driver's license with clean driving record
