Responsibilities
- Develop and enforce municipal environmental regulations for industrial and commercial facilities
- Conduct comprehensive site inspections and pollution source investigations
- Create educational programs for businesses on waste reduction and sustainability practices
- Analyze environmental data to identify compliance trends and recommend policy improvements
- Liaise with state regulatory agencies and represent the City at environmental forums
- Prepare detailed compliance reports and enforcement documentation
- Mentor junior staff on environmental protocols and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 4 years of regulatory compliance experience in government or environmental sector
- California Registered Environmental Assessor (REA) certification preferred
- Proficiency with environmental data analysis software (GIS, ArcGIS)
- Strong knowledge of federal/state environmental regulations (RCRA, CWA, CAA)
- Valid California driver's license
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills
- Experience with public outreach and stakeholder engagement
